Job Summary:

Serves as the visionary leader, principal communicator, and operational driver of the Clinical Integrated Network (CIN) being developed by EvergreenHealth / Overlake Medical Center and the community physicians. Works with the EHN Board of Directors and Committees, EvergreenHealth and Overlake Medical Center in a decision-making and support role to set goals and priorities of the CIN, with the CIN Medical Directors to guide policy and overall direction for the network, and clearly articulate the values and goals of the CIN.

Primary Duties

  • Establishes CIN operational and strategic goals in conjunction with the Board of Directors
  • Initiates recruitment of key stakeholders and physician practices for the CIN; including network development, public relations and communications
  • Identifies and hires CIN operational staff as needed and approved
  • Attends Board of Directors monthly meetings, as well as additional Board Committee meetings
  • Develops CIN budget priorities and framework
  • Spearheads the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes for the CIN
  • Engages and maintains relationships with EvergreenHealth / Overlake Medical Center executive leadership
  • Engages and supports discussions with major regional employers about their clinical needs
  • Engages and supports discussions with major regional health plans regarding contracting opportunities, quality and efficiency management
  • Structures and processes people (staff) as needed to measure and improve quality, cost, patient experience and provider satisfaction across the network
  • Communicates with colleagues, administrative leadership, and legal and regulatory entities to champion the initiatives of the CIN
  • Manages CIN business operations; including finance, analytics, IT, provider relations and marketing
  • Provides guidance in the development and execution of payor, ancillary, lab, and post-acute contracting relationships
  • Provides strategic insight about the hospital, employed and community provider strategies; including areas of strength, weakness and growth opportunities
  • Collaborates with the CIN Medical Directors to establish content for CIN Clinical Management Forums
  • Provides routine reporting of EHN status to the EHA Board

Accountabilities/Competencies

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, comprehending and speaking English as required for business necessity.
  • Accountability for HIPAA privacy and security standards within the department or assigned nursing unit.
  • Must possess basic skills to use Microsoft Office, specialized software and electronic office equipment.

Expectations – First 18 months include:

  • Build a network of engaged community primary care and specialty physicians; including speaking engagements at town halls, medical staff meetings, public forums and one on one
  • Operationalize the CIN infrastructure and staffing; including finance, analytics, IT, provider relations and marketing
  • Participate in payor contracting strategy discussions and potential payor contracting negotiations
  • Further develop and implement CIN quality metrics
  • Oversee the implementation of the Population Health Management IT solution
  • Finalize physician incentives distribution model
  • Provide CIN education to the comm
  • Develop a 3 year strategic plan
  • Identify current gaps, remove barriers and provide solutions to the continued development of the CIN
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and EvergreenHealth / Overlake Hospital administration to finalize CIN expectations and budgetary considerations
  • Address provider issues affecting provider satisfaction and care delivery

Qualifications

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts; business focus preferred
  • 10 years of healthcare leadership experience
  • 5 years of experience at the Director or Executive level
  • Experience with direct facilitation of physicians and healthcare administrative executives; one-on-one and in a Board setting
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort in developing a new network/business
  • Strong people and project management capabilities. Must understand the local and state markets, as well as areas of opportunity and strength within the network
  • Strong understanding of value-based contracting options
  • Understanding of current provider network and areas of opportunity to align more closely with payors
  • Creative and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must be able to negotiate and/or communicate with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to understand and provide thoughtful input about strategic opportunities
  • Understanding of organizational and operational areas of weakness and provide tangible solutions
  • Strong financial acumen, budget creation and performance metrics management
  • Capability to build relationships with a variety of personalities; including community physicians, hospital leadership and the Board of Directors• Strong understanding of clinical quality programs and FTC-sanctioned Clinical Integration
