RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of Nursing Leadership, the Emergency Department Manager is responsible for the daily oversight of the Emergency Department. This includes but is not limited to accountability for leadership, budget preparation and overall fiscal management of the department. Oversees departmental quality improvement activities that promote an efficient workflow and patient safety. Collaborates with administrative and departmental leaders to develop strategic plans for the Emergency Department. Role models proactive, collaborative working relationships across all hospital functions in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Develops programs, policies, procedures and standards of care to ensure patients’ needs are assessed, evaluated and met consistently with the philosophy of the District/hospital.


Skills and Abilities Required

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of three years hospital experience
  • Management/supervisory experience required
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer skills, including ability or willingness to learn/use the District Electronic Medical Record system
  • Bachelor’s degree or currently in school for BSN requiredCurrent California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS Certification
