The Director of Quality and Safety for the South Central Region provides strategic, operational, and thought leadership to support Indiana University Health goals. The director is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of the Quality Assessment/Performance Improvement (QAPI) and Infection Prevention (IP) Program(s) within the Region, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, medical staff and senior leadership. This director works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure measurable improvement in health outcomes, prevention of medical errors, and reduction of patient harm. This role directs, facilitates, and influences the alignment of clinical quality, patient safety, and infection prevention improvement efforts within the Region by promoting adoption of local and national benchmarking for best practices. This role ensures active regional representation and engagement in IU Health System quality, patient safety and infection prevention initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
  • Pharmacist, Registered Nurse, or clinical background preferred.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience required.
  • Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) is preferred, must be obtained within 3 years of employment.
  • Requires experience with complex matrix organizations, building trusting relationships, influencing through indirect authority, and inspiring and aligning diverse stakeholders to achieve a common vision.
  • Requires knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Rapid Cycle PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma or IHI Model for Improvement experience is preferred.
