The Director of Post Surgical and Women’s and Children’s is a highly qualified, expert clinician who possesses excellent leadership and strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The Director is responsible for planning, implementing and assessing the daily functions of Nursing Care and Services provided in the units on all shifts; provides supervisory and management oversight for staff members and departmental resources and processes; actively assists in Nursing Quality Improvement programs and is supportive and knowledgeable regarding the established Standards of Care/Standards of Practice and hospital policies and procedures.
The Director supports the mission, vision statements and goals of Alaska Regional Hospital (ARH). The Director facilitates interventions to meet patients’ physical, psychological, spiritual, social, cultural and educational needs; coordinates functions with physicians and other departments of the hospital in a spirit that fosters positive working relationships. The Director must possess excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or enrolled in a program within 12 months, Master’s degree preferred
- A minimum of three years of progressive leadership in acute care with a minimum of 1 year of direct managerial experience.
- License Required: Registered Nurse – State of Alaska
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
